Ritsurin Park Folk Art Museum Garden

In a small courtyard created between earthen storehouse-style buildings, two different types of tsuboniwa (small enclosed gardens) were designed.

The larger space was composed in a simple style using landscape stones, moss, a white gravel surface, and a small number of yadake bamboo plants. The smaller space was designed with a contrasting composition, combining a group of slender and flexible young kurochiku bamboo, white gravel, moss, a single tree with a thick trunk, and flat landscape stones.

Separated by a corridor and hall that also function as a passageway, the two courtyards were intentionally designed as contrasting gardens, creating a dual composition of hardness and softness.

The garden stones used are from the nearby mountain area called Goshikidai, close to the local coastline.
