Daishin-in Sub-temple of Myoshin-ji Garden

This dry landscape garden in front of the shoin is also known as the “A-un Garden.”

At the eastern corner of the site, a low artificial hill is formed, on which a stone arrangement representing the Amida Triad is placed. From there, the hill gently slopes westward, creating a flowing form.

To support this sense of movement, three flat stones are placed within the composition. Moss and white sand are used to create large, sweeping curved patterns across the ground surface. In the western corner, a semi-circular mossed area is planted with Cycas revoluta (sago palm), adding a sense of depth and enclosure.

While based on classical design principles, the garden also incorporates a modern sensibility, with the green tones of moss and vegetation creating a refined and visually striking composition.
