Shinsho-ji Temple Shuro-ken Tea Garden

Shinsho-ji Temple Shuro-ken is a reconstruction of the historical appearance of the Omotesenke tea house, situated at the center of the tea garden scattered across the vast temple grounds. The original Omotesenke buildings were destroyed in fires during the Tenmei era (1788) and the 39th year of the Meiji era (1906). As the appearance prior to the fires had been meticulously documented by Horiuchi Fushikusai, the building and its surrounding roji garden were restored based on those records. The reconstruction incorporates traditional features of the original garden, such as a dry pond.
