STORY
At the Nakane Garden Research Institute, we have walked a path shaped by this single, enduring question.
Our goal is not merely to create beautiful gardens. We look to the laws of nature and the tapestry of culture, absorbing the history and life of the land to design spaces that will be cherished by the generations to follow. Our work is to carefully craft landscapes that live not only for those here today, but as enduring memories for those who will visit in the future.
From the meticulous restoration of cultural heritage sites to the creation of contemporary landscapes, we have faced "places" that exist beyond borders and eras—and the stories that dwell within them.
We begin by listening. We seek to see the essence of a site, not to simply mimic the past, but to transform it into a form that belongs to the present. By integrating Research, Design, and Creation (Zokei) into a single philosophy, we pursue an uncompromising beauty—thinking, dreaming, and working on-site with our own hands. We believe that this accumulation of effort eventually becomes a "New Classic."
We are looking for individuals who resonate with this vision—those who will carry this same question in their hearts as they confront the challenge of creation.
The Nakane Garden Research Institute invites you to join us. Together, let us draw the landscapes of the next era.

Desired candidate profile
Engaging with landscape design
Our work is never completed at a desk.
It is a process of standing on the site, absorbing the memories and atmosphere of the land, and constantly contemplating what to preserve and what to newly create. We do not simply draw plans or perform assigned tasks; we use our own senses and hands to give physical form to a landscape.
This process inevitably involves hesitation, trial, and error. Nevertheless, we wish to work with those who can persevere in the pursuit of a better vista, engaging with the site with unwavering tenacity.
More than mere technical skill or experience, we seek individuals with the will to be truly sincere toward the landscape—those who are prepared to take the time necessary to deepen their own expression.
